Meet Our Doctors

  • Jill Smith, OD

    An Iowa native and a graduate of the Indiana School of Optometry, Dr. Jill Smith now proudly calls Kansas City home. Jill's career began at the Hunkeler Eye Institute in 1995 where she focused on medical management of ocular disease, pre- and post-op management of cataract and refractive surgery patients, and specialty contact lens fitting.

    Precision Optics is a well-known Kansas City practice that first opened in Westport in 1972. Dr. Smith purchased Precision Optics in 2008 and the business has grown significantly under her leadership. With over 25 years experience in Kansas City, she remains committed to the profession, excited to help her patients, and delivers excellent quality eye care.

  • Caroline Mendus, OD

    Dr. Caroline Mendus is a Kansas City native who graduated from Creighton University and the University of Missouri - St. Louis College of Optometry with honors. She joined the Precision Optics team in 2021 and has greatly enjoyed providing eye care for new patients. Her clinical interests include pediatrics, ocular disease, and contact lenses.

    Dr. Mendus is a die hard Royals baseball fan so you will likely find her at every home game. She also loves traveling and trying new restaurants in her free time.
